Indian storytelling now belongs on global screens — three signals from the last year
Streaming hits, luxury's India turn, and a fashion-week shift — three signals from the past year showing Indian visual storytelling is no longer a regional play.
Context
Streaming hits, luxury's India turn, and a fashion-week shift — three signals from the past year showing Indian visual storytelling is no longer a regional play.
Field notes
Three things changed in 2025 worth recording. First, global streaming audiences spent more total hours on Indian-origin productions than on any prior year. Second, luxury fashion houses opened or expanded Mumbai operations at a rate not seen since the early 2010s. Third, the global fashion-week calendar adjusted to centre dates that work for Mumbai and Delhi. These signals don't argue for a 'localised' India play — they argue for India as a primary lens that travels.
